چکیده
A 53 year-old man who had been suffering from left leg pain had relief to some degree with conservative treatment. Fifteen days later he had another painful episode and was hospitalized for physical therapy. Acute paraparesia developed on the tenth day after admission. On neurosurgical consultation there was paraparesia which was prominent distally. both patella and Achilles reflexes were abolie. Walleix sign was positive and he was unable to stand up without help. There was no sensory deficit or sphincteric problem. Cremasteric and anal reflexes were intact.

Posterior epidural migration of a sequestrated lumbar disk fragment: MR imaging findings.
We present a 75-year-old man who, for 2 weeks, had progressive pain in both of his thighs when standing straight. MR imaging showed a sequestrated disk fragment, which had a signal intensity similar to that of a herniated disk with a rim enhancement in the posterior epidural space and a ruptured outermost annulus of the intervertebral disk at L2-3. Awareness of these MR imaging findings can hel...

BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANCE Symptomatic lumbar disc herniation is common. Migration of a free disc fragment is usually found in rostral, caudal, or lateral directions. Posterior epidural migration is very rare. We report the first case with posterior epidural migration and sequestration into bilateral facet joints of a free disc fragment. CLINICAL PRESENTATION A 78-year-old female presented wit...
متن کاملPosterior epidural migration of lumbar disk fragments: report of two cases and review of the literature.
BACKGROUND Posterior epidural migration of an extruded disk fragment is rare, and posterior migration of the free fragments causing cauda equina syndrome is exceptionally rare. The disk fragment must transgress through numerous anatomical restraints including the nerve roots in such cases. METHODS Two cases of migration of the sequestrated disk into the posterior epidural space are presented....

Background and Importance: Disk sequestration can be defined as a herniated disk with perforation of the fibrous ring (or outermost annulus fibrosus) and posterior longitudinal ligament with migration of the disk fragment to the epidural space. Even after the introduction of high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), it is still frequently misinterpreted as neoplastic masses. U...

STUDY DESIGN A retrospective study was undertaken to delineate the characteristics of non-traumatic sequestrated epidurally migrated cervical disc prolapse. PURPOSE To present first case series of eight such cases diagnosed preoperatively and to discuss their magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics and their management. OVERVIEW OF LITERATURE Non-traumatic spontaneous migration of ...
متن کاملOrdinary Disc Herniation Changing into Posterior Epidural Migration of Lumbar Disc Fragments Confirmed by Magnetic Resonance Imaging: A Case Report of a Successful Endoscopic Treatment
The posterior epidural migration of lumbar disc fragments is an extremely rare event with an unknown pathogenesis. To the best of our knowledge, there are no previously reported cases of a change of ordinary disc herniation into the posterior epidural migration of lumbar disc fragments as confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A 26-year-old male presented to our department complaining o...
